In fact is tutorial covers running and installing (in that order).
Once you get to "After it boots up, click the Install icon on the desktop." you have a running ubuntu disc.
I would not continue with the process at this point, since this is a full, running version of Ubuntu which will lose any changes.
At this stage this is good, since you can experiment conpletely at will safe in the knowledge you will not be doing any damage.
